I've read through (skimmed), the course work in the run up to Assignment 1 and even started to think about some of the subjects for Assignment 1 (finding good subject matter is always an area I struggle with and so I want to get ahead of the game. I'm going to France in August so I'm thinking that I can cover off a few of the "contrasts" while I'm there. Here are my current thoughts:
- Large / Small - real Eiffel tower / toy Eiffel tower (or close-up Eiffel tower and distant Eiffel tower)
- Many / Few - field of flowers / 1 or 2 flowers
- Broad / Narrow - broad street / narrow street
- Light / Dark - ornament in bright light / same ornament in low light
- Smooth / Rough - calm water / rough water
- Much / Little - busy street / barren street
- Still / Moving - car moving / car still
1 more to think of and also not sure on the contrast "in one picture" yet.
Hopefully I'll get more ideas over the coming weeks (I'll add to this blog page as I do), but I'm reasonably happy that the above subjects will give plenty of scope to demonstrate learnings from the exercises and focus areas of Part 1.
Update - 28/7
So I'm approaching the point where I'm going to start on the assignment work. None of the photographs I've taken for the course so far have been anything other practical things, however the assignments should obviously be more of an expression of what I believe to be good photography. But I'm not very confident in the above subjects. Particularly 2, 7 & 4. The more reading I've done, the more of a sense I have of the kind of photographs I want to take - and these subjects don't fit it..... Need to give this some proper thought.....
